And pretty much any other pest you may have!
The Black House Spider is identifiable by it's dark robust colour. With both the female and male they have a protective shell covering the back of them. Their legs are dark brown to black in colour. The abdomen is charcoal grey with a dorsal pattern of light markings and a thick covering of fine velvety hair.
They like to make their webs within window frames, wall crevices, tree trunks, rock walls or in any other light place which will attract prey. The spiders will make a funnel within their web and then lay in wait at the back of the tunnel for an insect to fly into the web. Once this happens they will rush out of the tunnel and bite their prey.
The black house spider is venomous but it is not considered dangerous. They are a timid spider and a bite from one in infrequent. Usually a bite occurs if you are moving their web or irritating them. A bite can be extremely painful with localized swelling. Symptoms can range from nausea, vomiting, sweating and giddiness.
