Huntsman Spider

You are able to identify a huntsman spider by their size. They are large long legged spiders and have often been referred to as a giant crab spiders due to their size and appearance.

These spiders do not build webs but will hunt and forage for food. They live within loose bark on trees, in crevices of rock walls, in logs, under rocks and within foliage. From time to time a huntsman will wander inside a house.

They are able to travel extremely fast, often using a springing jump while running. They will walk on walls and even on ceilings.

They have a "cling" reflex if picked up, which then makes it hard to shake them of, which can then lead to been bitten. A bite can cause pain and swelling and on occasion vomiting, nausea and headaches.
