And pretty much any other pest you may have!
The redback spider is one that is found Australia wide and is considered to be one of the most dangerous spiders in Australia. They are identifiable by the distinctive red stripe on the top of their abdomen.
You are able to find these spiders within close proximity of humans. They will build their webs in places which are dry and adequate food is available. Places that you can usually find redbacks are within children's toys, among rocks, sheds, in logs, outhouses or within rubbish or litter.
A bite from a redback occurs mainly over the summer months. They rarely leave their web so to be bitten you usually unknowingly will place a part of your body within their shelter. Only a female's bite is dangerous to humans. Once you have been bitten it can cause serious illness. Early symptoms are pain, sweating, muscular weakness, nausea and vomiting.
There is now antivenom available and since it being introduces, no deaths have occurred.
